Prescribing & Fulfillment Workflow
This page describes Blue Pine Health’s process from patient intake through medication delivery. Blue Pine Health operates as a telehealth platform connecting patients with licensed healthcare providers and licensed third-party pharmacies. Blue Pine Health does not manufacture, compound, dispense, or ship prescription medications.
1. Patient Registration & Intake
Patients create a secure online account and complete a comprehensive medical intake questionnaire. This includes relevant medical history, current medications, allergies, prior treatments, and any contraindications necessary for clinical evaluation. Patient information is transmitted and stored using HIPAA-compliant systems.
2. Licensed Provider Review
A state-licensed healthcare provider reviews the patient’s intake information. Providers are independently credentialed and licensed in the state in which the patient is located at the time of care.
3. Clinical Decision & Medical Judgment
The provider exercises independent medical judgment to determine whether treatment is clinically appropriate. This decision may include approval of treatment, modification of the requested therapy, requests for additional information, or determination that treatment is not appropriate. Treatment is not guaranteed.
4. Prescription Transmission (eRx)
If treatment is deemed appropriate, the provider issues a prescription and transmits it electronically to a licensed third-party pharmacy selected based on patient location, medication availability, and applicable state and federal regulations.
5. Pharmacy Verification, Dispensing & Processing
The receiving pharmacy independently performs prescription validation, drug utilization review (DUR), and pharmacist oversight. Blue Pine Health partners exclusively with licensed, LegitScript-certified pharmacies that meet applicable state and federal regulatory requirements.
Partner pharmacies typically process prescriptions within approximately 72 hours, although processing times may vary based on medication type, verification requirements, and pharmacy workload.
6. Shipping & Delivery
Once processed by the pharmacy, medications are shipped directly from the licensed pharmacy to the patient. Partner pharmacies generally ship completed orders via two-day air service using carriers such as UPS or FedEx, subject to carrier availability, holidays, weather conditions, and patient location.
Shipping timelines and fulfillment logistics are controlled exclusively by the pharmacy.
7. Ongoing Care, Monitoring & Adverse Event Escalation
Patients may communicate with their care team for follow-up questions or concerns. Any reported adverse events, side effects, or clinical concerns are escalated to the prescribing provider for review and management, including therapy adjustment or discontinuation when appropriate.
Important Notice
Blue Pine Health does not engage in the physical handling, compounding, packaging, labeling, storage, or shipping of prescription medications. All pharmaceutical services are provided solely by licensed, LegitScript-certified third-party pharmacies.
